Places of interest
Kusatsu Onsen
Kusatsu is located at the southeastern foot of Mt. Shirane-san in the northwestern part of Gumma. The city became well known about 120 years ago when Dr. Balz, a doctor of medicine from Germany, found its hot spring to be very effective. In Kusatsu-onsen Hot Spring, there are eighteen public baths. Each bath has a different effect and different fountainhead. Most of them operate twenty-four hours a day.

Ikaho Onsen
Ikaho-onsen is a hot spring resort located on the highland rising 720-820 meters above sea level at the northeastern foot of Mt. Haruna-san in the central part of Gumma. The hot spring is said to have been found in the 7th century. The spring is of sulfate and of carbonic acid, and its concentration is so high that it sometimes dyes towels red. The source of the spring is somewhat back of the town, at a spot 850 meters above sea level, and each inn draws from it.

Nikko Toshogu Shrine
Toshogu Shrine is where the famous Shogun of the Edo Period in the 17th century, Tokugawa Ieyasu, was worshiped after his death. It became as luxurious and elaborate as it looks today when the grandson of Ieyasu, the third Shogun Tokugawa Iemitsu, reconstructed it. The engravings on the Yomei-mon Gate are especially overwhelming, provided with every luxury imaginable and redolent in gorgeous colors.

Nikko Edo Mura
Edo Mura is a theme park that recreated the ancient town and buildings of Edo period (1603-1868). You can find downtown just as it was in Edo period with arcades, pavillions, restaurants areaa and theaters. Also, you can meet Samurais, Ninjas, beautifully clad Japanese girls and pretty town girls walking in the town. You will feel like you are traveling acke in the past and also you will have enough of Japan fully.

Kinugawa-onsen
Kinugawa-onsen Hot Spring is located along the river valley that lies between Mt. Dai-hyuga-san and Mt. Shaka-ga-take, on the upper stream of the Kinu-gawa River that runs through the central part of Tochigi. Those resorts form a town and it has been 300 years since the first spa opened. The scene of the valley changes its color by azaleas in spring and red leaves in autumn.
