In Edo period gGokaidoh road network and inn town were established. In that time the system of information deleivery was adjusted. The walker postmen were replaced by horsemen. The post service became available not only for government officials, but also for daimyos, samurais and sitizens. It was a period of rapid development of post service in Japan. |
Post in Meiji period. In 1871 the old post system was replaced by the new one, based on English post system, it started in Tokyo and Osaka. In the next year it was spread to the whole country. |
